Fort Ross Conservancy Board Statement Concerning Russia's Invasion of Ukraine

Fort Ross Conservancy’s (FRC) mission is to promote the interpretive and educational activities of California State Parks at Fort Ross State Historic Park and Salt Point State Park for the benefit of the public. FRC tells the story of Fort Ross and the surrounding area: the broad and rich history of the Kashaya before and after the arrival of the Russians in 1812, the Russian state trading company which built and occupied the fort from 1812 to 1841, the Alaska Natives who were coerced into these ventures, and the ranchers and others who later purchased, developed and operated the resources in the area, and others who were involved in this region.

FRC has no association or other formal or informal collaboration with the Russian Federation. FRC has received funding from Russian individuals, businesses and others to help fund existing initiatives, but supports and is fully compliant with U. S. government sanctions. We have also collaborated with the Kennan Institute as a co-sponsor of the Fort Ross Dialogue conference. To read a statement from the Kennan Institute, see their website.
