Become a member of Fort Ross Conservancy.
- Your membership promotes stewardship of Fort Ross and Salt Point parks. Benefits of membership and annual renewals are our monthly electronic newsletters and 10% discount on purchases (including mail orders) at the Visitor Center Bookshop.
You can join by mailing the membership brochure to us via USPS, online with PayPal, or call us to use your credit card.
- Volunteer at Fort Ross – Volunteering provides a great way to meet new people, fulfill community service hours, and get outside to enjoy our public lands. We have many opportunities for all ages and interests.
- Make a donation to Fort Ross Conservancy – Donating to Fort Ross Conservancy allows us to continue our work of promoting and protecting Fort Ross State Historic Park and Salt Point Park. We have many projects that need funding in order to succeed. You can donate online, or by sending us a check via USPS.
- Make an in-kind donation to Fort Ross Conservancy. If you are in the produce or restaurant business, we are always pleased to receive in-kind food for our big events. We could also use new equipment and materials related to our Marine Ecology programming (binoculars, camping equipment). Please contact us to discuss. In-kind donations are tax-deductible; fill out the downloadable PDF to document your donation.
Fort Ross State Historic Park, located on the pristine coast of western Sonoma County, is a California State Park and is listed as a National Historic Landmark. The settlement was established in 1812 by Russians, Alaska Natives, and Native Californians. The fort compound today is the destination for hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. Salt Point State Park, fifteen minutes north of Fort Ross, offers 6,000 acres of hiking trails, camping facilities, and dramatic coastline to be explored by visitors.
Our Objectives:
- Grow our interpretive, volunteer, educational, environmental and event programming,
- Increase the historical connections through research, library and archival expansion,
- Provide stewardship for the Parks’ 9,500 acres of accessible public lands and historic buildings,
- Serve as a link between California State Parks and our broader local and international communities,
- Educate and fundraise for increased number of days our parks are open to the public.
Current Projects:
- Growing our Marine Ecology Program for middle and high school students,
- Creating a scholarship fund to ensure all students have access to quality outdoor education,
- Managing and expanding our Marine Mammal Monitoring program,
- Planning and executing a wide variety of events to showcase the parks and increase awareness of these public resources,
- Fundraising for a Trail Plan at Fort Ross,
- Stabilizing, protecting and expanding the historic Russian and Ranch-era orchard,
- Re-opening and operating the Reef Campground, just south of Fort Ross.
Thank you for your tremendous support of Fort Ross.
